Former longtime Virginia Local Government Manager Jim Oliver has been named interim city manager by the Hampton City Council effective July 1st. He succeeds Jesse Wallace who is retiring, and may serve before July 1st if Wallace takes advantage of time off before then. The city is launching a national search for Wallace's permanent successor.
