Hampton City Manager Retires

Hamnpton City Manager Jess Wallace is calling it quits and retiring after serving the city of Hampton for 32 years, the last four as city manaager.

He was hired in 1973 as an accountant in the finance department. Before working for the city, he was employed by Newport News Shipbuilding's budget and planning division. In Hampton he has served as director of revenue enhancement, director of productivity programs, budget director, and director of program and policy analysis. He was appointed assistant city manager in January 2004, and assumed the role of city manager after former Hampton City Manager George Wallace was dismissed.
