From Essex County
June 26 proved to be an exciting day in downtown Tappahannock, the county seat of Essex County in the Middle Peninsula.
According to our source at the courthouse, the Virginia State Police Bomb Squad was called to the scene after someone alerted them to a suspicious package.
They removed and examined a 106 pound package that had been delivered by FedEx to the Circuit Court Clerk's Office.
After testing and trying the nerves of everyone in the vicinity, the 106 pound parcel turned out to be payment for a fine ... in pennies!
