New Festival Planned in Campbell County – August 15;
Celebrating County Heritage

The Campbell County Recreation Department, in cooperation with the Community Park Committee, is pleased to announce a new festival in Campbell County; the Campbell County Heritage Festival. This one day event will be held on Saturday, August 15, 2009, at the William Campbell High School and adjacent community park in Naruna, Virginia, from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. This event is free to the public.

Created to honor Campbell County’s rich heritage, this event offers: educational demonstrations, historical reenactments, an antique tractor and car show, sheep herding demonstrations, tobacco tying, apple butter and cider making, basket weaving, pottery demonstrations, fiber spinning, antique tools, pony rides, crafters, children’s activities and live musical entertainment.

As a finale to the festival, The Dazzlers, a popular 1950’s rock a billy band from the Brookneal area, will offer a benefit concert at 7:00 p.m. Tickets for this concert are available at the Campbell County Recreation Department and Campbell County Libraries and will also be sold on-site; tickets are $8.00 per adult and $5.00 per child. All proceeds from this concert go toward the development of an amphitheatre at the community park site.
