On Saturday, June 6, the Prince William County Historic Preservation Division is sponsoring a van tour focusing on Prince William County’s colonial history. Formed in 1731, the county played a prominent role during the colonial period of Virginia’s history.

The tour will highlight locations and events that pertain to the County’s colonial past. Tour stops will include: Bel Air, Rippon Lodge, King’s Highway, Williams Ordinary, Dumfries and the Weems-Botts Museum. Bel Air is one of the oldest homes in the County and is privately owned and rarely opened for tours. The date of the tour, June 6, is the 235th anniversary of the Prince William Resolves that were passed in protest to the British rule of the colonies in 1774. The tour will witness a recreation of the passing of the Resolves in Dumfries.

The cost is $80 per person, which includes transportation, admission to all sites and a boxed lunch. Space is limited and reservations are required.
