Clay Goodman, formerly the Montgomery County Administrator, became the new Roanoke County Administrator effective Monday, March 16. The Roanoke paper covered the transition in the article at http://www.roanoke.com/news/nrv/wb/197814.
He succeeds Elmer C. Hodge who retired in June, 2008 after more than two decades of service to the county.
According to press reports, Goodman is a Christiansburg native and a graduate of Virginia Tech, so he was reluctant at first to leave his hometown where he had worked for 11 years, but he also has ties to the Roanoke area as he worked in Vinton previously.
