Virginia Association of Commonwealth's Attorneys Applauds Governor Kaine's Calling for a Special Legislative Session

The Virginia Association of Commonwealth’s Attorneys applauds Governor Kaine’s leadership in calling for a special session of the General Assembly to deal with the public safety issues raised by the recent United States Supreme Court ruling in Melendez-Diaz v. Massachusetts.

Given the significant impact on the Division of Forensic Science and on pending criminal trials, the Governor made the responsible decision to seek prompt legislative action. Our Association looks forward to working with the Governor’s office and the Office of the Attorney General to draft a bipartisan solution to present to the General Assembly.
