The Louisa County Board of Supervisors continued their plan to bring municipal water from the James River under a joint authority composed of Louisa and Fluvanna Counties at the board of supervisor’s meeting on February 2, 2009. The board took a major step forward in adopting a resolution authorizing County Administrator Dale G. Mullen to advertise the establishment of the James River Water Authority for public hearing on April 6, 2009, as required by Virginia law.
“The overall goal of the James River Water Authority is to bring sustainable core public services to our designated growth areas” according to Board Chairman Willie L. Harper.
The board further expressed their continued resolve to bring municipal water to the Zion Crossroads area by authorizing the county administrator to move forward with engineering and development by approving payment from previously appropriated funds. The project involves extensive and complex design issues and effects the designated growth areas of both counties.
The James River Water Project is a collaborative project between Louisa and Fluvanna Counties to bring reliable safe public water to the designated growth area at Zion Crossroads along Interstate 64. Members of the proposed Joint Authority are expected to be discussed at the next Louisa County Board of Supervisor’s meeting scheduled for February 17, 2009.
