The Louisa County Board of Supervisors announced January 21 that a third member of the Louisa Community Development Department Building Inspection staff earned the distinction of becoming a Master Code Professional (MCP).
Roger “Skip” Harper, senior plans examiner, met the requirements for his Master Code Professional certification January 14, 2009, to become the third MCP in the Louisa County Department of Community Development.
On December 30, 2008, Building Inspector Casey Littlefield earned this important distinction, joining Building Inspector Caleb Sulzen in being counted among a small group of elite individuals who have reached the highest level of certification in the International Code Council (ICC) certification program. There are less than 600 individuals in the United States who have earned the Master Code Professional designation and three are in Louisa County.
“This is an example of Louisa County’s commitment to providing excellent, professional service to our customers, protecting the health, safety, and welfare of our citizens and creating better buildings and safer communities,” said Paul R. Snyder, Louisa County Building Official.
Board Chairman Willie L. Harper said, “Having highly trained and well qualified building officials working for Louisa County has helped stimulate economic development. Louisa County is committed to quality development in commercial, industrial and residential property.”
Along with the opening of Lowe’s, Best Western Inn & Suite at Zion Crossroads and the International House of Pancakes, a new Wal-Mart Supercenter broke ground in December 2008 and a tire recycling plant, C3RS, Inc. has located its operation in the Louisa County Industrial Air Park. Interim County Administrator Dale G. Mullen said, “In difficult economic times it is important to recognize that commerce and industry bring employment opportunity for Louisa County residents and strengthen our revenue base. Louisa County has experienced a 171% increase in commercial permitting when other counties have either been flat or decreased. Louisa County is committed to employee development and education that places an emphasis on the professional services we provide.”
